Stronger Together Award

This is the second year we have run this award, recognising a supply chain partner who has delivered a community project that has made an impact on both an Orbit community and the lives of customers living within it. We are delighted to be working with supply chain partners that support our vision of building thriving communities through their social value. There is so much that Orbit as a business would like to achieve but by having strong partnerships, we can achieve even more. Orbit has a number of key partners, and we want to celebrate the achievements of these partners. Now, they need your vote!

Bell Group, Birmingham

Bell Group are a family-run business that joined Orbit’s supply chain back in 2018. Their role is to deliver cyclical decorations and it was clear from the start they shared Orbit’s ethos and purpose. Social value (giving back to the community) was never an addition to any contract that they received, it was at the heart of what they do.

Bell Group have delivered two well received projects in the heart of our communities that have benefited a huge number of Orbit customers and the communities in which they live, as well as local community groups and national charities including the Samaritans. One of these projects was the redecoration of a community centre in Southam, a hub accessed by a large number of customers, providing vital services such as baby & toddler groups, lunch clubs and youth clubs. They also redecorated a mixed-use community hub in Stratford.

Not only has the work built better relationships between this supplier and Orbit employees, it has also had a positive impact on our customers and their local communities.

Ethstat Ethical Stationary CIC, Croydon

Ethstat Ethical Stationery is a social enterprise who deliver social and environmental value across their business. Their environmental plaudits include deliveries with reduced transport emissions, refilling of containers to cut packaging waste, production of energy-efficient printers and remanufacturing cartridges with reduced energy consumption – all of which which is gaining an incredible response from customers and our communities.

Before the coronavirus outbreak, they arranged a meeting to discuss office supply related opportunities. Just a few weeks later they came to the rescue when Orbit’s larger and more established suppliers of hand sanitiser and handwash couldn’t fulfil our unprecedented demand.

Not only were they able to source and deliver these items, but in doing so, they enabled the safety of our employees, allowing them, in turn, to carry out essential services for customers. They are now a key supplier of PPE and hygiene products to Orbit, and they have provided printers and toner cartridges for our employees to allow efficient working from home (this initiative was mobilised in one day!). It is great knowing that Orbit can still accommodate the many vulnerable customers we care for.

Ethstat was established to eradicate homelessness. Profit from Orbit’s orders feeds rough sleepers, reduces homelessness and supports vulnerable people back into employment. Ethstat’s work ethic is a breath of fresh air, and we look forward to working alongside them to bring further positive impacts to our communities and our environment. Just Ask Estate Services, Byfleet

Just Ask Estate Services is committed to its core values and social mission “better places better lives” and have continued to impress Orbit with their ethics, professionalism, their continuous support, the sheer amount of hours back into the community through social value (502 hours so far) and 29% of their workforce are in social housing themselves, understanding the importance of their communities and welfare. They work exclusively with registered housing providers and have a B-Corp accreditation.

Just Ask Estate Services have gone above and beyond during the coronavirus outbreak and have covered multiple geographical locations, supplying the highest standard of cleaning. They have done this in such a professional and supportive way for which we cannot say thank you enough.

Just Ask were owed a substantial amount of money from clients who were thrown into difficult situations due to coronavirus. Instead of waiting for payment and stopping all work, they continued working to the highest standard. They understood the strain on these businesses and knew how important it was to keep going and delivering their services to keep everyone safe.

Just Ask have continued to deliver without asking for additional coronavirus support. Orbit would have really struggled without them as our key cleaning supplier.
