It could be argued that, as a result of the pandemic, looking after ourselves and taking care of our mental health is more important now than it has ever been. That is why we continue to fund support services which specifically help with our customers’ wellbeing, further details of which are available at https://www.orbitcustomerhub.org.uk/help-support/
In Leamington Spa, for example, we fund the Brunswick Hub for wellbeing care including a new support service called Space Synergy which has just launched and is exclusively available for our customers.
So, if you are an Orbit customer in the Leamington area and are affected by something which is having a negative impact on your mental health, please contact 01926 422123 or email triciacollier@brunswickhlc.org.uk for support. This could include bereavement, dementia support, Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) support, digital inclusion, employment and benefit advice or foodbank queries.
And remember, those not living in Leamington can always access our 24/7 Breathing Space programme - https://www.orbitcustomerhub.org.uk/help-support/mywellbeing/ - to get a little extra help with their emotional wellbeing.
Here, Tricia Collier the Wellbeing Officer at the Brunswick Hub, offers some advice on a few simple steps to improve your everyday mental health and wellbeing:
- Be physically active, being active is great for your physical and mental health. Just a short walk in the fresh air can boost your mood for the day. It doesn’t have to be too strenuous.
- Learn a new skill, Research shows that learning a new skill boosts self-esteem, gives us a sense of purpose and can also help us to connect with others.
- Try to connect with people again, it has been a long and difficult year for many of us. Now that covid restrictions are lifting, try and reconnect with friends and strike up good relationships again. Human interaction is so important for your mental health.
Please remember that it is OK to not be OK and that there are lots of people out there who can help and support you at your time of need. Further information is just a click away at https://www.orbitcustomerhub.org.uk/help-support
