Am I eligible?
If you receive Guaranteed Pension Credit, you should receive the payment automatically from your energy supplier between November and March. If you don’t, you’ll need to be receiving a qualifying benefit such as Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Related Employment and Support Allowance, Job Seekers Allowance, Income Support, Savings Pension Credit and/or Universal Credit. Those only receiving Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Attendance Allowance alone are not eligible.
Your household must also have ‘high energy bills’. To work this out, the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and energy suppliers will look at information such as the age, type (for example, semi-detached or detached), and floor area of your home, to help decide if it's likely to be expensive to heat, or how energy-efficient it is.
Check out our video below which gives you an overview of the Warm Home Discount scheme.
To learn more about the Warm Homes Discount scheme, please visit the Government’s website. Martin Lewis has also produced some great information on how to determine if you qualify. You can also find out more about saving on your energy bills by visiting our customer website.
Top tip
Be on alert for fake texts claiming to be from the Government inviting you to apply for the Warm Home Discount. It's a scam – the £150 will be paid automatically, so you don’t need to apply. If you think you have been scammed, here’s what to do.
