Orbit Independent Living residents across Warwickshire recently celebrated the King’s Coronation in style, during a host of special events.
The events were held from 2nd – 10th May at Independent Living Schemes in Stratford-upon-Avon, Wellesbourne, Leamington Spa, Shipston-on-Stour, Southam and Rugby.
Residents and staff participated in royal-themed activities including traditional afternoon teas, flower arranging, quizzes and raffles. Special party-style celebrations were also held, which featured refreshments and live music, as well as community events with a bouncy castle, face painter, stalls, and tombola.
Connie (96), a resident at Lawrence Mackie House in Wellesbourne, commented: “I thoroughly enjoyed myself at our afternoon tea celebration. I don't go out much due to my mobility, however it was a great day and lovely that my sister could come along too. I will be getting involved in communal activities more often now!"
Francis Burrows, Director of Support and Service Development at Orbit, said: “We were delighted to host these events for our residents in Warwickshire, to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. It was a fantastic opportunity for residents to socialise and enjoy the friendly atmosphere, and benefit from the variety of treats and entertainment on offer. I would like to thank those who spent their time and effort arranging these successful events and to everyone who attended.”
The Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort took place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6th May 2023.
