Orbit Homes has planted over 300 whips and semi-mature trees at the new flagship development in Daventry, Micklewell Park.
Colleagues volunteered their time to help plant the trees at the site as part of National Tree Week (Saturday 27th November and Sunday 5th December).
Colin Dean, Sales and Marketing Director at Orbit Homes and Cllr Karen Tweedale, the Mayor of Daventry, attended the tree planting.
Colin Dean commented: “We consider a home’s surroundings just as important as the living spaces inside. We don’t only want to protect habitats, but also enhance and enrich green spaces to encourage the local wildlife to flourish. Whilst our aim is to retain existing trees and hedgerows where possible to safeguard species and habitats, we are also excited to plant new trees and shrubs which will act as pollinators for bees and butterflies.
“Upon completion, Micklewell Park will be home to eight acres of newly planted woodland, wildlife corridors and a selection of bird boxes which we hope will enhance the environment and help to create a thriving community.”
The event aligns to our new Environmental, Social and Governance strategy which supports our vision to lead in building thriving communities. The strategy outlines our commitment to reduce our carbon footprint, enhance our natural spaces, create, and improve places and spaces for our communities and develop and manage sustainable supply chains.
The first phase of Micklewell Park is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed in March 2023, with 108 homes being delivered. The scheme will create over 450 new homes in total.
