If you prepay for your energy through a traditional ‘pay as you go’ meter, you will be provided with energy bill discount vouchers from the first week of each month. These will be sent via SMS text, email or post, using your registered contact details. Just redeem them at your usual top-up point, such as your nearest local PayPoint or Post Office.
If you pay by a smart prepayment meter, you will see the discount credited directly to your smart prepayment meter in the first week of each month.
Direct Debit customers will receive the discount automatically as a deduction to the monthly Direct Debit amount collected, or as a refund to your bank account following Direct Debit collection during each month. Paying by Direct Debit is around 6% cheaper than paying when the bill arrives, so if you don’t currently pay by Direct Debit, it could save you some money.

Be on alert for fake texts claiming to be from the Government inviting you to apply for the £400 energy bills support. It's a scam – the £400 will be paid automatically, so you don’t need to apply. If you think you have been scammed, here’s what to do.
