A resident was having an under-occupation charge deducted from her Universal Credit payment, meaning that it was thought she had more rooms in her home than she did and wasn’t using all of her home. The resident couldn’t understand why, as she only lived in a one-bedroom property, so she reached out to us to see if we could help. After she spoke with Agnes in our Income Collection and Recovery team, we looked into the issue and were able to confirm that she did indeed live in a one-bedroom home. We were then able to arrange with Universal Credit for the deduction to be stopped and the customer now receives the full Universal Credit payment that she’s eligible for. She said; “Thank you so much for your help, listening and caring attitude towards me.”
