As well as a donation, Orbit employees rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at the foodbank’s food drive in local supermarkets. This resulted in 400 Christmas hampers full of seasonal delights for those in need.
Cheryl Flavell, our dedicated Place Area Lead, helped deliver hampers to residents. She said: “Orbit supports the foodbank all year round, but it’s particularly important at this time of year. We hope that our contribution to the Christmas hampers helps customers and local residents alike to enjoy the festivities.”
The foodbank is situated within the Fred Winter Centre, where we've established a Better Days hub. Within the hub, our customers can access face-to-face support covering a range of issues such as managing finances, health and wellbeing, employability and skills.
The cost of food has been rising and help is on hand for those who aren’t eligible for support from a food bank. Take a look at our blog on social supermarkets, which are helping those who want to feed their families for less.
