By working together, we can do something about it. If each of us does our part to care for the space around us, we can all make a difference to our local communities.
There are several things we can all do right now to start making our communities places where everyone can be proud to live:
• Recycle as much of your waste as you can. From used batteries to plastic bags, you can recycle many of the items we use in our daily lives. If you don’t have a recycling collection service where you live, you can find your nearest recycling facility by visiting RecycleNow
• CleanupUK is a charity that brings together community volunteers to pick up litter where they live. Not only does it bring people closer together and encourage neighbours to meet one another other, it also helps create a greater sense of pride and community in local areas
• Keep Britain Tidy is a charity that seeks to eliminate litter now and for future generations. From rubbish picking to becoming a #LitterHero, there are loads of volunteer opportunities for everyone. Visit their website to find out more!
• Take part in World Cleanup Day on 19 September by organising a community clean up in your neighbourhood. Why wait until September, when you can start now? There are plenty of free tools to help you plan, including an online ‘toolbox’.
We want everyone to live in a community that is green, safe, tidy – and free from fly tipping. To find out more visit our ‘Rubbish and refuse’ page.
