In anticipation of of the warmer months , our volunteers and contractors planted 5000m² of wildflowers, 3000 hedgerow whips, and 15 trees across five of our estates. These plants included a variety of UK native species like Field Maple, Crab Apple, Pear, Hawthorn, and Dog Rose, along with a wildflower mix featuring 28 different native flowering species.
Last year, we introduced our new Biodiversity Approach to our local wildlife and nature in our communities, this was created with the help from the Wildlife Trusts, a grass roots charity that works to protect wildlife on land and at sea, and bring people closer to nature. This plan aligns with their ‘30 by 30’ campaign and the UN Convention’s goals on Biological Diversity. It’s all about boosting local biodiversity and creating welcoming habitats for wildlife right here in our communities. Find out more about Wildlife Trust and get your free booklet here
