Thriving Communities Awards
Our Thriving Communities Awards are all about recognising great achievements in delivering our aim to build thriving communities.
They celebrate people across the country, from our customers who have turned their lives around, community groups who have supported their neighbourhoods and supply chain partners who have gone above and beyond to make a positive contribution to their local area.
Despite the challenging circumstances that we have all had to deal with during the pandemic, we wanted to continue to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our communities and the people that truly make a difference.
Last year we adapted the 2020 Thriving Communities Awards to take place digitally. We continued this in 2021, and we're thrilled to announce our winners. This year, the awards were open to the public, from the first nominations all the way through to choosing the finalists. Over 1,500 votes were cast for our finalists which is an incredible result. You can view a selection of videos about our winners on our videos page.

Meet the Judges
This year we invited colleagues, directors and community board members from across Orbit to judge our 2021 Thriving Communities Awards. We were also lucky enough to secure a guest judge from Coventry City of Culture. Meet this year's judges, who shortlisted our finalists before the public vote.
This year’s award categories are as follows:
This award is for an Orbit customer who has turned their life around and exceeded expectations. This could be a customer who has started up their own business or achieved personal development goals whilst overcoming personal difficulties. |
This award recognises a community group or person, who has shown outstanding passion and enthusiasm through the development of local services that have supported Orbit customers to thrive. This award is open to the public. |
This award is for a supply chain partner who has delivered a community project that has made an impact on both an Orbit community and the lives of customers living within it. |
New for 2021, this award recognises a person who has shown outstanding commitment to engage with Orbit by making positive contributions during Customer Engagement activities. These contributions have led to an improved community, neighbourhood or overall experience for customers. |
New for 2021, this award is for a project, individual (customer, community member, contractor or Orbit employee) who has developed an environmental project or supported other individuals to make a positive impact on the environment. Projects developed by Orbit employees must also have impacted our customers or communities, they cannot be only business-oriented. |
