We are working to create a better society, building affordable homes and communities, and doing so in more socially responsible and sustainable ways. All of this will be delivered in full acknowledgement of the global environmental crisis, ensuring that we reduce its impact across homes, services, and offices.
To help us achieve this, we have established our environmental sustainability programme, Orbit Earth. Under this programme, we will actively enhance our environment, creating and improving places and spaces for communities to thrive.

As part of our Customer Promise, we are committed to providing high quality, safe and sustainable homes whilst investing in a low carbon future as we aim to continue building thriving communities for both current and future generations.
We are currently ‘retrofitting’ a range of energy efficiency improvements in homes that we know have a lower energy efficiency rating.
We recognise the huge challenges the natural world is facing, which is why we’ve partnered with the Wildlife Trusts to better support nature’s recovery and improve outdoor spaces for everyone. By taking small steps, we can all create a better environment for wildlife and nature to thrive.
As part of our environmental programme, Orbit Earth, we have made a commitment to enhancing our outdoor spaces to improve their quality, as well as the diversity of plants and animals that make them their home. By improving these spaces, we aim to have a positive impact on customers’ health and wellbeing, as well as the environment.
This pack provides a range of activities, tips and advice to help you reduce, reuse and recycle – and to help us work together towards a healthier, happier you, with a more energy efficient home and sustainable community.
As part of our newly launched biodiversity approach, we are committing at least 30% of our green spaces for nature by 2030. We’ll do this by planting hedgerows, shrubs, and wildflowers to benefit insects and other wildlife. We will also dedicate some outside areas to nature and, where space is limited, look to create artificial habitats including bird boxes and bug hotels. These enhanced outdoor spaces will also improve customers’ wellbeing by providing better and more local access to nature.
